LOSS (of a friend)
is one ever ready for the close of human connection ones own or that of friends? how does one define Loss when Gain is the heritage of living gifts bestowed through years ? Ah, this is the sword that pierces through, sharp and clean to Pain LOSS it is the sev'ring of connection otherwise how else would I be grieving when I have not sat with you in years? over a Hong Kong beach feathered ballet of black-tipped seagulls pinion arabesques against blue tapestry cloud free sky overlooking other soil a world away and yet and yet still connected to you at home, abroad by thought music letter, phone, communication of our friendship death silences your voice soft as falling leaves removes the gentle clasp of hands gentle strength of work worn legacies to children felt in your touch memories stashed by death into open graves from which, now and then I will ressurrect a scene from " all the world's a stage" where you and I, two players in our time, chose the way in which our roles could bring distinction from a mundane script exchange our mutual loves in quiet armchair comfort in your living room or arboretum in the Foothills - Nature's rendezvous I miss you now thirtyeight year portion of allotted time numbed in this minute from its true enormity In this minute all I am aware of is the LOSS of no connection. Soon, little by little link by link I will connect again when I allow the tears to flow when I open to feeling as the fire smoulders into flickering tongues that curl and brown and ash whatever lies before them when I feel the pain of white hot sear when I realize in LIFE that DEATH resides when I can no longer write one word and am reduced to feeling and emotion sans intelllect THEN I will acknowlege you are dead. I will allow myself to die again 3/21/03 Goessoftly Retired Therapist www.goessoftlyishere.com (No reprint allowed) ![]() ![]() | LOVE THE CHILD | YOU DO NOT KNOW ME | Contemplating Suicide | ON THE COUCH | Can you sit and do NOTHING ? | LOSS ( a friend) | The Emperor and Silence is a Vote | Two Poems | I MISS You,Friend | | THE HEALING PROCESS | DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER | POETRY | |
