  PAIN
Do not step into
my agony
with flimsy supposition
that you understand

How could you?
when I, who suffer
do not feel,
bring to dull awareness
what is always there
buried
yet never fully died

Sometimes
painful slivers
shredded
from a memory
pierce thru' the
membrane
of my consciousness
stabbing sharply at
my futile efforts to
forget

What is pain?
it is the destruction of
belief
in others when
all that was given
is thrown back betraying
love
leaving isolated hearts
lost without
boundaries to contain
crumbled hope
ground fine

Pain has no
words
and tears refuse to cleanse
my blueing wounds
festered scars
failed in healing

there is no healing

All that is left
dear image
figure ground
in blood hues
wrung from the
hurt
of all
our
yesterdays
